A little about our Australian Made and Owned DIY Suppliers...
The Artisan Paint Company, based in Gundaroo, New South Wales. Led by Alison Gregory with an amazing and supportive team, they have made it their business to produce eco friendly and handmade paints and paint finishes here in Australia. Alison spent many years painting and upcycling furniture as well as importing products from Europe and the US, but became aware of the shortcomings of paints currently available. They wanted to make a paint that they loved using, that would address the needs of furniture painters. They know that you love the minimal prep required when using chalk paint, that you get frustrated by bleed through, hate having to struggle with brush marks and don’t like the way that some paints lift when a second coat is applied. So they worked to develop a paint range that we LOVE using, that resolved a lot of the issues that chalk style paints have. They also developed a palette of colours that answered the needs of furniture painters… perfect whites and neutrals, bolds and brights, that can also be mixed to create exactly the tone you require.
Mezzie + Frank is the success story of two Queensland women Merran Tedman (Mezzie) and Pam Burchill (Frank) with a background in homewares, interiors and a passion for upcycling furniture. Identifying an uprising in recycling and repurposing old furniture and a return to bespoke crafts in the marketplace they found a wanting for colours more suited to the Australian decor and lifestyle. On offer in Australia was only subdued traditional colours and very little Australian. So with a vision they embarked on developing their own range of chalk effects paint and created a home grown brand to offer the Australian marketplace and to rival the international competitors. Mezzie + Frank Chalk Effect Paint is manufactured in Australia at a boutique paint factory and formulated using environmentally friendly ingredients that require no surface preparation and adheres to most surfaces. Today with over 50 stockists Australia wide and growing they have established a network of outlets where those keen to know more than just basic painting techniques, can hone their skills in more sophisticated decorative techniques. Everyone loves to use Mezzie + Frank because it can transform any dated piece of furniture with ease, speed and a sense of achievement. It’s eco friendly and easy to clean up once your project is complete. Being water based, you simply rinse brushes in water and allow to dry.
